Political analysts say that despite the victories, the fight against terrorism is not over

Analistas políticos dizem que, apesar das vitórias, a luta contra o terrorismo não acabou

One day after the President of the Republic announced in Pemba, the assault on an important insurgency base in Macomia, where Bonomade Machude Omar, the guerrilla commander, was located, but who was not captured, analysts consider that this means that the war in Cabo Delgado is still far from over.

Filipe Nyusi said that the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and their partners continue to pursue the insurgents, emphasizing that "when it is said that the enemy is in stampede, it is because of this pursuit."

However, political analyst Ismael Mussá says that it is not easy to create a cordon of force to contain this situation, stressing that isolated attacks will continue to occur.

"My biggest fear is, exactly, the approach to the province of Nampula; it is necessary to redouble efforts, especially in patrolling the Messalo River, which takes us to the Lúrio River, in Nampula, and there the problem becomes much more serious," argues the analyst quoted by VOA.

In his turn, the also political analyst Hilário Chacate says that the commander of the SADC military force that fights terrorism in Cabo Delgado, Mpomo Molomo, during a lecture at the Joaquim Chissano University, recognized that there are still many challenges in this fight.

For journalist Fernando Lima, the jihadists are now opting for attacks in small groups, which is more difficult to contain, despite the existence of international forces in the country that help Mozambique fight terrorism.
