Amazon Web Services (AWS) and British spy agencies have signed an agreement that allows AWS to host classified material in order to increase the use of data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for espionage.
The GCHQ agency has championed the acquisition of a high-security cloud system that will be used by counterpart services MI5 and MI6, as well as other government departments during joint operations, Reuters reports.
The contract was signed this year, and the data collected by AWS is to be hosted in the UK.
The British cyber-spy, said in February that they have embraced AI to discover and confuse pedophiles. However, this new foray into AI has to do with the strong migration of dangerous states to use this technology in their intentions.
GCHQ Director Jeremy Fleming said on Monday that the number of ransomware attacks had doubled across the UK by 2021 compared to last year.
