The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA), the country's largest employers' organization, challenges the new board of the National Business Council (CEN) to play an active role in influencing the nation's economic and social development agenda, through high-level advocacy and the formulation of policies favorable to the private sector.
According to the president of the CTA, Álvaro Massingue, who was speaking this Thursday (11) in Maputo during the swearing-in ceremony of Onur Momade and Osvaldo Mahute as president and vice-president of the CEN, respectively, for the 2025-29 term, the new board should contribute to shaping policies and programs that benefit the private sector and the national economy.
"This is a significant moment for Mozambique's private sector and we are confident that CEN will play a key role in promoting our country's economic and social development," said Massingue.
To this end, it will be necessary to create mechanisms for consultation with the government, as well as mobilize resources to make the body more dynamic.
On the occasion, Onur Momade pledged to make every effort to achieve the objectives set out in the CTA's statutes. Osvaldo Mahute, for his part, reiterated the same commitment to work and dedication throughout his mandate.
The creation of the new CEN board comes as part of the institutional renewal of the CTA. The body's mission will be to serve as a switchboard for policy dialog between the private sector, large companies and the government.
