The Mayor of Maputo, Rasaque Manhique, announced the cancellation of a public tender that had been awarded to the companies Karam Car and Fire Solution, citing economic and financial reasons.

The decision was communicated through an official note from the city council.

The tender, awarded and published on June 13, involved hiring the company Karam Car to paint an escort vehicle (license plate AHS 770MP), for an amount close to 300,000 meticais.

The cancellation of the tender may also have been caused by a strong wave of indignation on social networks, with many citizens questioning the need and cost of the service.

In addition, the tender also provided for the hiring of the company Fire Solution to overhaul and charge fire extinguishers for the municipal and volunteer firefighters, for an amount that is close to 400,000 meticais.
