Yesterday (15.12) in Maputo, the company Águas da Região Metropolitana de Maputo (AdRMM) established a partnership with the General Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE).
The partnership aims to create and strengthen specialized technical capacity for AdRMM's operational teams. It also aims to contribute to improving the sanitation and hygiene conditions of economic agents' establishments.
The Memorandum of Understanding, initialed for this purpose, gives AdRMM the responsibility of providing INAE with a database of customers in the trade, service and industry segments who are in an irregular situation, so that action can be taken.
For its part, INAE must monitor compliance with legislation regulating the exercise of economic activities and consumer protection.
On the occasion, Castigo Álvaro Cossa, Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of AdRMM, said that the materialization of the MoU represents an improvement in the sustainability of the company and the satisfaction of customers, as well as consumers living in the cities of Maputo and Matola.
"Last October, in a pilot phase, we started a project to recover suspended customers in the commerce, service and industry category, in coordination with INAE, having thus identified more than three thousand suspended customers in our portfolio, in the city and province of Maputo, of which around one thousand were visited and, consequently, 120 recovered, in addition to the installation of 90 pre-paid meters, thus generating an increase in billing and collection," explained Castigo Álvaro Cossa.
For her part, Maria Rita Freitas, INAE's Inspector General, said that the MoU is an asset for both institutions, in that the agreement strengthens the working relationship between the two institutions.
"This isn't just another memorandum, it's a memorandum that will be useful. We're already working on it.
It will be an asset to strengthen this relationship with the AdRMM and to extend it to our colleagues in the INAE delegation in Maputo City and Province, so that we can establish these relationships," concluded the Inspector General.
