The Central Office for Combating Organized and Transnational Crime accuses an agent from the National Criminal Investigation Service and an official from a justice department in Maputo of being involved in the kidnapping of a businessman in the Fomento neighbourhood, in the city of Matola.
The kidnapping took place in a business in December last year. After two days without a ransom being paid, the victim was murdered by mechanical asphyxiation. The body was dumped in a vacant lot in the Malhampsene district of the city.
The SERNIC defendant is alleged to have associated himself with groups of criminals who act indiscriminately.
TV Sucesso says that the accused shared classified information about the course of criminal investigations and instructions, as well as using weapons to threaten and execute victims.
The two officials are accused of kidnapping, aggravated homicide, possession of prohibited weapons, criminal association, forgery of documents, use of a false document, use of another person's identification document, unlawful exercise of a profession, qualified tax fraud and money laundering.
The indictments are being processed in Maputo province.
