Two individuals lured a private security guard, a friend of theirs, into stealing from the establishment where he worked in Maputo city. During the division of the goods, the duo felt wronged and chose to murder the guard and throw his body in a drainage ditch.
The murder of the private security agent took place last week, April 3, in the Laulane neighborhood, near Avenida Major General Cândido Mondlane, better known as Dona Alice.
Born in the district of Moma, Nampula province, and living in the Minguene neighborhood of Maputo, the 28-year-old first accused says he was betrayed by the occasion. "It's occasion that makes someone a thief, because at some point, I didn't know that things were going to end badly like this."
The second suspect, 32, a native of Mocuba, Zambezia province, also lives in the Minguene neighborhood, where the guard friend who was murdered used to live. "We killed our friend because of his property".
According to the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Maputo, "at the time of the division of assets, the two understood that they should erase their partner as a way of burning the file, since he always chose valuable assets at the time of the division of assets and left them assets that were not very relevant to his market".
After the murder, the security guard's body was hidden by the two friends. "The body was found after three people had dumped it in a ditch near the place where they had divided the goods," said the PRM quoted by TVM.
The two accused are being held at the 14th PRM police station in Maputo city and are awaiting further proceedings.
