South African Minister Mmboneni Muofhe recently announced that South Africa will introduce from 2023 a new locally produced Covid-19 vaccine under the Biovac project.

"We are predicting that by mid-2023 we will have a vaccine coming out of our scientific production at Biovac" informed Mmboneni Muofhe, South African Minister of Science and Technology, quoted by the local press.

The ministerial responsible for Innovation also explained that Pretoria has developed a transfer center for mRNA technology, pointing out that several countries have already expressed interest in acquiring the South African vaccine.
