The South African government has deployed military personnel to four provinces bordering Mozambique to ensure the safety of trucks, following the recent fires involving 21 trucks transporting coal and chromium.
The authorities have not yet been able to clarify the causes of the phenomena, but there are indications that are leading to the identification of 12 suspects in the attacks.
South Africa assumes that this is economic sabotage and has therefore decided to involve the military in order to guarantee the normal course of transactional trade.
"The South African National Defense Forces confirm their deployment in support of the South African Police Service, namely in four provinces, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the province of Fre State," reads the statement quoted by stv.
The authorities are still unaware of the link between the attacks, as they are occurring in isolation in various parts of the country.
