After all, can the country produce enough wheat for domestic consumption?

Afinal o país pode produzir trigo suficiente para consumo interno?

The Federation of National Agricultural Associations came to the public to inform that the country has the conditions to produce enough wheat for domestic consumption, given the shortage of this grain due to export restrictions since the beginning of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

Hernane Muassanhane, president of the farmers' association, explained during a press conference that the sector just needs incentives to make wheat production possible.

"Alternatives have, but in agriculture, the solutions are not immediate. We have to produce more and the issue of credit, ... needs to be reviewed (...) 2% all the credit that is approved at the Mozambican level is only for agriculture.

How are we going to say that agriculture is a priority? Agriculture really needs real support. We can produce. There are conditions in the country to produce wheat, but this will be in the medium and long term," he said during the conference.

According to the producers, the readjustment of the Personal Income Tax (IRPS) is another element that can help stimulate the agricultural sector.
