The Maragra sugar mill in Maputo province could resume full production in 2026, having recently started rehabilitating the areas affected by the floods at the beginning of last year, reports Notícias.

The information was provided to this portal by the president of the Manhiça Municipal Council, Alexandre Munguambe.

"According to the information provided so far, the company could have its first campaign in 2026," said Munguambe, quoted by Notícias.

The source explained that, in view of these prospects, the rehabilitation of dykes to strengthen the protection of sugarcane fields is underway.

Maragra is now working on rehabilitating the dykes, a job without which no planting should take place.
