Eight people were injured in a rail accident involving a CFM vehicle and a passenger transport on Tuesday (06), at the level crossing on the Goba line, in the town of Boane, Maputo province.
Notícias reports that the injured, all of whom were taken to hospital, were on passenger transport AIH 897 MC on the Boane-Baixa route. They have now been discharged from hospital.
The guard who witnessed the accident said that the traffic light had signaled for the car to stop moving, which was not possible due to faults in the braking system.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique pointed to speeding and mechanical problems as the causes of the crash. "There was slight damage to the bus and the locomotive," said PRM district commander Armindo Chachuaio.
This is the third accident involving locomotives and passenger transport this year.
