The number of deaths as a result of a road accident on Sunday (06) in the Matutuine district of Maputo province rose from five to eight today, said the District Director for Health, Women and Social Action.
She also said that six of the injured have already been discharged and another 28 have been transferred to Maputo Central Hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
"Of those 41, 28 were transferred to Maputo Central Hospital. We recorded eight deaths, five at the scene of the accident, one at the Bela Vista health center, and two on the way to the Central Hospital. Seven bodies have already been recognized," said Tânia Mabota, quoted by Rádio Moçambique.
She said that seven patients were currently hospitalized, six adults and one child. "They are stable patients, under observation. We're going to assess the possibility of discharge. They're just waiting for some tests".
The accident was caused by a "My Love" open-topped car that was traveling in the Maputo-Ponta D'Ouro direction.
On Sunday, in Maputo province, a semi-collective passenger transport vehicle traveling in the Gaza-Maputo direction caught fire in the Maluana area, in the Manhiça district, without causing any human victims.
