Absa Bank Mozambique, was recently recognized as the 'Best Business in Energy' by The African Banker Magazine, in the African Banker Awards 2021, in the category of Banks that contributed the most to energy supply throughout the year, for its contribution in the Temane Thermal Power Plant.
The Bank is the banking partner for Globeleq's projects in Mozambique, Temane Power Plant and Cuamba Power Plant with a total investment of more than $1 billion.
For the award, the Interim Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, Patrícia Darsam, noted that "by assuming our commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, we have aligned our business with a view to contributing to the socio-economic growth of Mozambique. The energy sector is part of one of our strategic pillars so we are committed to continuous support to energy projects in the country, contributing to the improvement of access to "low cost electricity" for Mozambicans.
Still on the subject, he added that "as a financial institution, we take responsibility, with commitment and professionalism, for the search for solutions aimed at exceeding the expectations of our customers, and it is in this sense, that we have dedicated ourselves to providing a service of excellence.
In conclusion, Patrícia referred that "we are the exclusive financial partner for the entire investment in Mozambique for the Temane Thermal Power Plant, which makes us very proud, not only because we will have the honor of closely monitoring the implementation of this mega project for the country, but also because we will be side by side and on a daily basis, giving all the necessary support as a partner financial institution to make it happen.
