The Polytechnic University and the public company Electricidade de Moçambique-EDM signed on Tuesday, February 22, in Maputo, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at the professional development of human capital and provision of training or consulting services.
The agreement foresees the promotion of professional internships, supply of goods and provision of services between both institutions.
On the occasion, the rector of the Polytechnic University, Narciso Matos, referred that the signature of the MoU will give more energy to initiatives that are already being carried out jointly between the two institutions, having emphasized that EDM's biggest challenge is the non-technical energy losses.
"It's a social phenomenon, in which we destroy towers for one reason or another. This is, as an example, one of the objects of transdisciplinary study, in which The Polytechnic and other institutions can join and look for solutions. We are available and interested in working with EDM. We will continue to multiply training actions, internships and research related to work that EDM needs", said Narciso Matos.
For his part, the president of the Board of Directors of EDM, Marcelino Alberto, explained that the signing of the MoU aims, among other objectives, to leverage specialized training and enhance the competence of EDM's most important asset.
"Because we want to consolidate our leadership as a commercially profitable company, we have outlined a business plan covering the years 2020-2024 that mandates the creation of a skilled and competent workforce. In this context we are convinced that signing the MoU will bring mutual benefits," he concluded.
