At the police guardhouse, government and businesspeople encourage the functioning of institutions during marches

À guarita policial, Governo e empresários encorajam funcionamento das instituições durante marchas

The government and the Mozambican business community are urging public and private employees to go to their usual places of work on the days announced for the march.

"We encourage the private sector to convey this message to workers. As a government, particularly in the economic area, we encourage companies, public institutions and workers to remain active during this period, so that the economy does not suffer from the demonstrations," appealed the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Silvino Moreno, after a meeting with the Confederation of Economic Associations - CTA.

According to Moreno, the defense and security forces will be on standby to guarantee public order and security and the normal functioning of institutions.

For Agostinho Vuma, president of the CTA, people must commit themselves to economic and social stability.

According to Vuma, the paralysis of financial activities results in huge losses. In three days alone, losses of three billion meticais are estimated.

In this sense, the entrepreneurs reaffirmed the continuity of commercial activities.

Moreno and Vuma recognized the right to demonstrate and called for it to take place without prejudice to the functioning of public and private institutions and in accordance with the law.
