The National Meteorological Institute (INAM) warns that in the last 24 hours, tropical system Jude has been downgraded to the category of tropical depression and continues to influence the weather with heavy rain and strong gusty winds, accompanied by thunderstorms in some districts of the central and northern provinces of Mozambique..
According to a statement from INAM, projections indicate that the system is continuing to move within Zambézia province towards the sea. However, INAM warns of rainfall of 100 to 200 millimeters in 24 hours, with thunderstorms and wind with strong gusts mainly in the districts of Muecate, Nacarrôa, Eráti, Murrupula, Ribaué, Lalaua, Mecuburi, Nacarroa, Rapale and the city of Nampula, in the northern province of Nampula.
"Rain is also expected in the districts of Alto-Molocué, Mulevala, Gurué, Namarrói, Molumbo, Lugela, Milange, Morrumbala, Mocuba, Derre, Mopeia, Luabo, Ile, and the city of Quelimane, in the central province of Zambézia and mainly in the districts of Mecanhelas, Cuamba, Mandimba, Metarica, Maúa, Metangula, Marrupa, Nipepe, Majune, Muembe, Sanga and Lago in the northern province of Niassa," the document says.
The institution also predicts rainfall of between 50 and 100 millimeters in 24 hours, accompanied by thunderstorms in the districts of Mecúfi, Metuge, Montepuez, Ancuabe, Chiúre, Namuno, Montepuez, Balama and the city of Pemba in the northern province of Cabo Delgado.
In the central provinces of Tete, mainly in the districts of Angónia, Macanga, Chifunde, Chiuta, Tsangano, Doa, Mutarara, Moatize, Changara and Tete City; Manica province, in the districts of Guro, Tambara, Chemba, Macossa, Barué, Manica, Gondola and the city of Chimoio; and Sofala province in the districts of Chemba, Muanza, Caia, Maringué, Cheringoma, Gorongosa, Nhamatanda, Dondo, Búzi and the city of Beira.
