Education says circulation of book with text about Azagaia is illegal

Educação diz que circulação do livro com texto sobre Azagaia é ilegal

After several criticisms about the use of the eighth grade book that "defames" the late rapper Edson da Luz, better known as Azagaia, the Ministry of Education and Culture has come out to say that the circulation of the book is illegal.

At a press conference called last night because of the impact the case was creating, the Ministry of Education and Culture said that the book was discontinued in 2022 and its circulation became illegal from 2023.

"The book in question ran from 2016 until 2022 and we can even share when the book was produced. It was precisely in 2014 and in 2015 it began to be marketed," explained Silvestre Dava, the sector's representative.

He also stressed that the circulation of the book in question was illegal because it did not have government authorization and because it went against the reform of the school curriculum.

He also said that the material that will support the curriculum reform in secondary education is being introduced. "I'm talking about the textbooks that will soon be in circulation, the learning support booklets for the eighth grade," said Dava.
