Donald Trump suspends foreign aid for three months

Donald Trump suspende ajuda externa por três meses

US President Donald Trump yesterday suspended all US foreign assistance programs for 90 days. The measure aims to re-evaluate global spending.

The measure criticizes the foreign aid sector, saying that it is not aligned with American interests and values and contributes to global instability.
"Does it make America safer? Does it make America stronger? Does it make America United more prosperous?" asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, stressing the idea that every dollar that leaves the US should answer those questions.
The latest official figures from the Biden administration, from mid-December 2023, show 68 billion dollars allocated to foreign aid programs around the world, including humanitarian disaster relief, health initiatives and pro-democracy efforts in more than 200 countries and regions.
