Pascoal Ronda says he leaves the Interior Ministry with "results and good work. Although kidnapping crimes are still ongoing, he says it's a problem that needs to be tackled at all times.
On July 4, 2024, Pascoal Ronda took office as Minister of the Interior and one of his priorities was undoubtedly the fight against organized crime, especially kidnappings and abductions.
During the six months he was in charge of the Ministry, crime didn't stop and the Muslim community demanded answers 27 days after taking office. Ronda always said he was working to fight evil.
In July last year, the then President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, challenged the PRM to present at least one kidnapping mastermind. A month later, the National Criminal Investigation Service presented one of the first people believed to be the mastermind of two kidnappings in Maputo City.
But the crimes continued and the most recent case occurred on Avenida Alberto Luthuli, when a citizen was dragged into a car by the kidnappers.
Despite this scenario, the former interior minister, Pascoal Ronda, says he left a good job behind. (O País)
