Ten citizens were murdered by the Rapid Intervention Police (UIR), three in Machava Socimol, two in the area of the third traffic circle, in the direction of the Matola-Gare neighborhood, three in Nampula and two in the Maquinag area, in Bairro Luís Cabral.

According to a publication by the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDD), dozens of people have been injured as a result of police violence.

The publication also states that the young people murdered in Machava Socimol were leaving a stall where they were having fun, when they encountered a plainclothes police officer

After a brief joke with him, the officer called for reinforcements. Without any hesitation, the reinforcements arrived on the scene and opened fire, executing three young men on the ground and wounding two, one of whom was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The other victims were murdered in the context of demonstrations against Chapo's inauguration ceremony.
