The President of the Republic recommends that the population of the provinces of Nampula and Zambézia take precautionary measures in view of the approach of Intense Tropical Cyclone Dikeledi.

Filipe Nyusi stressed that given the severity of the phenomenon, which is of the same magnitude as IDAI, measures must be taken to safeguard the lives of communities.

"I am passing on this information with the aim of warning and recommending the population to take the following precautions: Prepare a basic emergency kit, as we said last time, consisting of food, water and basic medicines.

It is important to provide support to the elderly, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. We will monitor children and keep an eye on the authorities' guidelines via the radio or local disaster risk management committees and other media," he said, as quoted by Radio Mozambique.

The Head of State launched the challenge this Monday at the swearing-in ceremony for the members of the Assembly of the Republic's 10th legislature.
