The Municipality of Maputo is receiving a range of support from other municipalities to help with solid waste collection, as part of a twinning agreement (inter-municipal cooperation).

In this context, the support of the Chimoio Municipal Council, in Manica, which provided 10 tipper trucks, is noteworthy.

"The integration of these trucks will have an immediate impact on the efficiency of waste collection operations," said a statement from Maputo Municipality.

Every day, Maputo produces more than a thousand tons of solid waste, and the municipality was unable to collect it for several days after the trucks of the companies that provide the services were vandalized.

The document adds that this support "comes at a crucial time, complementing the efforts being made by Maputo City Council, with the collaboration of various public and private partners".
