The government has not yet released the conclusions of the investigation into possible inconsistencies regarding the statue of Eduardo Mondlane and says it was due to mobility difficulties caused by the post-election demonstrations.
The results of the report should have been released by mid-December. "There was a delay in completing the technical assessment. However, this expert work is still underway and its contents will be made public in due course," says the document quoted by the Letter from MozambiqueHe reminded us that the government is due to leave office on the 15th.
The new statue of Eduardo Mondlane was inaugurated on September 25 last year, as part of the celebrations for the Day of the Armed Defense Forces of Mozambique (FADM), by the President of the Republic, but it failed to reach a consensus in Mozambican society, which forced the government to set up a technical team to investigate the work's shortcomings.
The new statue of Eduardo Mondlane, erected at the beginning of the avenue with the same name, in the Alto-Maé neighborhood of Maputo, began to be mocked on social networks after its inauguration.
Among the various opinions expressed on the different digital platforms, citizens demand that the statue be removed from that location, claiming that it doesn't reflect the real image of Eduardo Mondlane and, therefore, ask for the return of the old one, which, according to them, bore more resemblance.
