Renamo members beat up journalists in Nampula

Membros da Renamo espancam jornalistas em Nampula

A group of Renamo members and sympathizers, who were at their provincial headquarters in Nampula on Saturday morning (21), assaulted three journalists who were covering a press conference called by the party's Communication and Image Office.

These are reporters from the newspapers Ikweli, Rigor and the German broadcaster DW.

According to the portal IkweliHowever, the worst didn't happen because, when the aforementioned Renamo members and sympathizers tried to carry out violence against the journalists, a member on the other side quickly intervened. He, who is part of the current leadership, prevented the violence from taking place.

There were plans to hold two press conferences at the venue: one called by the party's Communication and Image Office, to talk about the situation in Renamo, and the other called by some members who reject the current Renamo leadership, led by president Ossufo Momade.
