One person died and another was injured as a result of being shot yesterday during a chase that ended in the street leading to the house of Maputo's mayor, Razaque Manhique.

One of the victims still managed to get out of the car and run away, while the other was rescued by the Maputo mayor's security guards, according to images recorded by a video surveillance camera.

However, the young man's death caused outrage among his relatives, who assumed that it had been caused by the mayor's security guard, and as a result they decided to vandalize the mayor's house, burning the gate and throwing stones inside.

The action that resulted in the young man's death took place at around 5pm. Two vehicles, heading in the same direction, stopped in front of Rasaque Manhique's house after the driver of one of them blocked the other driver. At the tragic end, an individual got out of the vehicle and shot at the occupants of the other car.
