Demonstrations: Nyusi says violence is dangerous and could become a vicious, generational cycle

Manifestações: Nyusi diz que violência é perigosa e pode tornar-se um ciclo vicioso e geracional

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, says that violence, coupled with the attempt to take the law into one's own hands, is dangerous and can become a vicious, generational cycle.

Filipe Nyusi, who was speaking today in the district of Nhamatanda, Sofala province, condemned the wave of demonstrations, which he considers to be violent and to be spreading hatred among Mozambicans.

Quoted by "O País", Nyusi said that what Mozambicans need is peace and dialog, and not justice with their own hands, which is also dangerous because it can spread hatred in the country.

In reference to the demonstrations that have been called by Venâncio Mondlane, he draws attention to the seriousness of inciting violence, which results in deaths and the destruction of what cost a lot of sacrifice to build.

Therefore, Nyusi wants the courts to help prevent today's children from growing up with traumas caused by adult violence and beyond.

Nyusi made these pronouncements during the inauguration ceremony of the Nhamatanda District Court.
