The Communications Regulatory Authority (Autoridade Reguladora das Comunicações - INCM) says it has observed the abusive use of telecommunications networks to promote actions that undermine state security.
In a statement, the INCM refers to the publication of videos and messages that promote and encourage violent demonstrations and other acts of disobedience and social destabilization.
According to the institution, the improper use of communication networks "constitutes fraudulent traffic and a threat to the preservation of national security, as advocated in the Telecommunications Law".
In the document to which we have had access, the INCM calls for the good use of telecommunications networks and for the denunciation of situations in which they are used to promote acts that jeopardize public order and tranquility.
It should be remembered that telecommunications in the country were interrupted on the day that Venâncio Mondlane, the independent presidential candidate, was due to announce the third phase of the general strike. But also since the last hours of Wednesday (30.10) and Thursday (yesterday, 31.10), Meta's social networks Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram have not been working. Yesterday saw the start of the third phase of the general strike, lasting eight days until November 7.
Today, social networks and access to broadband and mobile data are still not working normally. To circumvent the use of social networks, users are resorting to the use of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks).
