Last night, the Mozambican government, through the Ministry of Land and Environment (MTA), won third place in the Clearing House Mechanism Awards of the Convention on Biological Diversity..

The award took place on the sidelines of the Conference of the Parties (COP16), which took place in Cali, Colombia.

According to a Sunday newspaperMozambique is the only southern African country to have won the award.

The 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, COP16, took place from October 21 to 31 in the city of Cali. The world's most important event for biodiversity conservation brought together 196 countries.
