At least 36 members of the Mozambique Republic Police (PRM) are bedridden as a result of injuries sustained during the ongoing demonstrations in the country, called by Venâncio Mondlane, the presidential candidate supported by PODEMOS.
The information was made public today in Maputo city by the PRM's general commander, Bernardino Rafael, during a meeting with the president of PODEMOS, Albino Forquilha, in which he said that some agents will no longer be able to work as police officers.
"I have 36 bedridden members, some of whom will no longer be able to work as PRMs," said Bernardino Rafael.
Bernardino Rafael assured that the police are not against demonstrations, "but they must be carried out in collaboration with the PRM, so that no public property is damaged".
