The president of the PODEMOS party, Albino Forquilha, reiterates that he is still aligned with his presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, including in calling for marches. In an interview with STV, Forquilha said that he will lead the opposition.
"Yes, we're still aligned, we came together because of a compatibility of values, a vision of governance and principles and we've come all the way here," said Albino Forquilha.
Nevertheless, Forquilha said that the parties have been receiving invitations to talk and/or negotiate, but they believe that the time has not yet come, because "the conditions for a dialog have not yet been created". "I say this because we are currently challenging a process and the institutions dealing with this process are still working. Perhaps some negotiation could be useful when these processes are exhausted," he explained.
According to the election results released, PODEMOS is the second most voted party. Will Albino Forquilha lead the opposition?
"I'm going to lead the opposition? based on the results, yes, I'm going to lead the opposition and I'm probably proud to do so, because I understand that leading the opposition isn't just about looking after my party. And I'm saying that perhaps President Ossufo Momade hasn't taken better advantage of this position and I'll have to think, probably with more heads, about how to better assume the status of leader of the opposition.
