The governments of Mozambique and Colombia have initialed an agreement to abolish visas for diplomatic and service passports, an instrument that aims to facilitate the movement of officials and other individuals carrying this document.
According to a AIMThe agreement was signed on Monday (28) in the Colombian city of Cali by the Mozambican Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Gonçalves, and the Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Luís Gilberto Murillo, an act witnessed by the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Márquez.
Signed on the sidelines of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which is taking place in Colombia under the slogan "Peace with Nature", Manuel Gonçalves said that the document is another step towards strengthening the bilateral cooperation that has been in place since 1988.
"Since then, our political-diplomatic relations have developed normally, and we want our relations to be strengthened," said the Mozambican deputy minister, adding that "we are currently working on building other areas of cooperation".
Gonçalves pointed to agriculture, mineral resources and energy as other sectors for cooperation.
"So these are areas in which our two countries have the potential to expand, and we hope that with the presence of the new Colombian ambassador [in Mozambique] who was recently accredited on October 16, that our relations will continue to consolidate and strengthen, especially looking at the economic and commercial side," he said.
