The Cabo Delgado Business Council calls for understanding between politicians and an end to protests against the results of the October 9 general elections..
In a publication by Radio France Internationale (RFI)The president of the organization, Mahamudo Irache, considers that the impact of the stoppage of activities is penalizing for the population already affected by natural disasters, terrorism and other phenomena.
"We are asking the politicians to stop. Cabo Delgado province is already suffering from various phenomena. We've already suffered from Cyclone Kenneth, we're suffering from terrorism and now we're suffering from these demonstrations. On the first day of the demonstrations, nobody worked in the province, imagine how many millions the businessmen lost that day," Mahamudo Irache appealed.
According to the source, the demonstrations are also affecting the tourism sector in Cabo Delgado. "We no longer have tourists coming in. The NGOs we've been working with have canceled their work in the district."
Meanwhile, the business sector in Mozambique fears that continued demonstrations against the election results could lead to shortages of consumer products, most of which are imported.
