Nationwide demonstrations: Government says people shouldn't join in

Manifestações à escala nacional: Governo diz que o povo não deve aderir

The government is warning all citizens not to join the "illegal" popular demonstrations called for tomorrow and Friday by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane.

The government is calling on the people to focus on their work, calmly and serenely, while they wait for the election results to be announced.

The appeal was made yesterday by the spokesman for the 30th Session of the Council of Ministers, Filimão Suaze, at a press conference, where he also lamented the fact that presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane had declared himself the winner of the elections and had called for the demonstration before the official announcement of the election results.

Right now, according to the spokesman, the focus should be on working so that public and private institutions can continue to guarantee the capacity to produce salaries and more investment for the country.

Thus, Suaze urges citizens not to paralyze income-generating activities, because there is a risk that employers will not pay wages due to a lack of production.
