In Maputo today, Renamo condemned all the acts of repression perpetrated by the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) against defenseless citizens protesting against electoral fraud and the murder of Elvino Dias and Paulo Guambe.
The party spokesman said that citizens were treated brutally when they fought for equal rights.
"This brutality not only hurts individuals, it also attacks democratic values, which we should all defend. Police violence is not just a question of human rights, it's a question of dignity. Every act of aggression, every brutal reprimand is an attack on our humanity," said Marcial Macome.
Macome says that the Defense and Security Forces have responded disproportionately and violently to peaceful demonstrations, showing that there is still a lot of work to be done if the country is to be free.
