The president of the New Democracy (ND) party believes that the General Elections of October 9 were a "theatrical" staging. Salomão Muchanga warns that Mozambicans are being pushed towards a revolution.
In a publication by Radio France Internationale (RFI)The president of the Nova Democracia party, Salomão Muchanga, stated unequivocally that the alternation of government to Frelimo, the ruling party in Mozambique, is far from being a reality, even when the will of the people, through the ballot box, suggests that it is.
"So this party has to respect the will of the people. You can tell me, today, a single member of Frelimo who is detained, but every day members of the opposition are in the prosecutors' offices, they are in the courts and revolutions in the world are supported by the unbearable living conditions of a people and Mozambique is experiencing the objective conditions of a revolutionary situation," said Salomão Muchanga.
For the president of ND, there were no elections in the country on October 9.
"We had a fraudulent and manipulated process from start to finish. It was a cruel theater of the heavens, a blow against freedom of choice. We have experienced a situation in which the regime has vandalized the will of the people in a kind of assault on our sovereignty. We're talking about the day of the vote, when they subverted the will of the people," said the political leader.
