The Judicial Court of the Alto-Molocué District ruled in favor of the appeal filed by the Renamo party in the electoral dispute over the elections held on October 9.
In the aforementioned appeal, Renamo claimed that its candidate delegates were prevented from participating in the crucial moment of the tabulation of results, which prevented them from comparing the data provided by the STAE (Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration) with their own, collected at the polling stations, in accordance with Law 15/2024, of August 23, which regulates voting procedures and the tabulation of results at partial, district, provincial and central level.
The court's decision reiterates the importance of the active participation of political representatives during the election tabulation, an essential process to guarantee the transparency and integrity of the elections.
Renamo argued that its exclusion at that time was a serious violation of the electoral rules, which opened the way for possible irregularities in the results.
A publication in the Electoral Gazette indicates that this is not an isolated incident in the district of Alto-Molocué. On other occasions, the court had already taken a stand against STAE practices, pointing to a lack of transparency and suspicious conduct that compromised the impartiality of the electoral process.
The Renamo party in that part of the country has been denouncing the fact that the impeachment of its representatives has not been limited to Alto-Molocué, but has been observed in several districts of Zambézia province.
These impediments, according to Renamo, facilitated "maneuvers" during the processing of electoral data, benefiting the Frelimo party.
