Em meio a tiroteios, PRM carrega urnas para local incerto

The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) fired shots and carried ballot boxes to an unknown location, where polling station staff were supposedly going to continue counting votes.

The case, according to the Electoral Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity, took place in the middle of the tabulation of results, in the village of Insaca, in the district of Mecanhelas, Niassa province.

It was around 11pm when the police started firing shots into the air and loaded the ballot boxes into a Mahindra vehicle. The intention was supposedly to disperse people who had chosen to stay at the polling stations to "avoid fraud".

Another case occurred in the early hours of the morning, at Wiriamo Primary School, located in the Zimpeto neighborhood of Maputo city. There, an armored car from the Rapid Intervention Unit went to remove ballot boxes before the end of the vote count to an unknown location.

At every table, in several districts, heavily armed police vehicles were reported.

In other incidents, the bulletin states that in Vandúzi, in the Sofala district, a police officer shot a young member of the Podemos party in the foot, allegedly because he was carrying out vandalism.

In the face of this, the population neutralized the policeman and beat him up as he tried to disperse the people near the polling stations. The young man and the policeman have been hospitalized.
