The candidate for President of the Republic, Venâncio Mondlane, leads the count with 25,035 votes in the city of Chimoio, capital of Manica province, in the VII general, presidential, legislative and IV provincial assembly elections held on Wednesday (09) in Mozambique.
In second place is Frelimo's presidential candidate, Daniel Francisco Chapo, with 20,630 votes.
Ossufo Momade, from Renamo, the second largest opposition party, had 1,249 votes by midday on Thursday and Lutero Simango, from the Mozambique Democratic Movement (MDM) had 778 votes.
The district director of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) in Chimoio, Afonso dos Santos José, said at the beginning of yesterday afternoon (10) that the figures represent 145 polling stations, out of a total of 318 that had been set up in the city of Chimoio, the capital of Manica province.
"This number of tables was processed up to 11am on Thursday. The number represents part of the tables that worked in the city of Chimoio.
We believe that all the tables in the city of Chimoio will be processed by the end of the day or even in the early hours of the morning," said Afonso Dos santos José.
He explained that 31 tables had been processed in the Assembly of the Republic, where the Frelimo party won 3,861 votes.
PODEMOS got 3,416 votes, Renamo got 666 and MDM got 409 votes.
In fact, Afonso dos Santos José said that for the provincial assemblies, a total of 40 tables had already been processed by midday on Thursday.
Frelimo had 6,587 votes, Renamo had 2,059 and the Democratic Movement of Mozambique had 2,369.
Afonso dos Santos José assured that the voting process went smoothly.
At the moment, the MMVs and others involved in the process are receiving their subsidies. (AIM)
