Independent candidate Venâncio Mondlane, supported by the Podemos party, exercised his right to vote today in Maputo city, and called for the electorate to go to the polling stations in large numbers, "despite the electoral illicit activities" that are taking place.
"If we vote en masse, the conditions will be in place for the will of the people not to be condemned. There will be surprises," he said.
Speaking to journalists, Mondlane spent most of his speech talking about the electoral crimes that took place in the early hours of today.
He considered the city of Maputo to be the center of electoral banditry. "It's a veritable Babylon". He said that he trusted the electoral process, but not the people deployed to run the elections.
Mondlane assured that the voting trends point to an advance in the electoral race above the 80% voting trend.
