The Attorney General of the Republic says that the judicial magistrates and the Public Prosecutor's Office are prepared to deal with cases of electoral offenses that may arise during this election.
Beatriz Buchili was speaking on Wednesday morning after performing her civic duty at Josina Machel Secondary School in Maputo City.
Quoted in the newspaper "O País", Buchili pointed out that "since last year, at the inter-institutional level of the judicial sector, both with the Constitutional Council, the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Justice, we have been training our judicial magistrates and public prosecutors for this electoral process."
The new Electoral Law was approved two weeks before the start of the electoral campaign, but Beatriz assures us that it was publicized and implemented with great urgency.
The source also said that "last year the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of the Interior ratified a memorandum of understanding for joint action, with a view to allowing complaints about electoral offenses to be investigated and resolved in a timely manner."
