Almost 60 MMVs convicted and tried for electoral offenses reinstated to the same positions

Readmitidos para as mesmas funções quase 60 MMVs condenados e julgados por ilícitos eleitorais

Some 58 Members of the Polling Station (MMVs) clandestinely appointed by Frelimo for the local elections will, in today's elections, return to their posts after having been tried and some convicted of electoral offenses.

According to the electoral bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity (CIP), the entire exercise was carried out in collusion with the District Director of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), in Quelimane, Zambezia province.

"What happened is that the training ended last Friday, but before the trainers delivered the list of candidates to the District STAE, Frelimo, through the district director of the same body, already had a list of the people who were going to occupy the positions of president, vice-president and polling station secretary. Most of them are people who were tried for unlawful acts in last year's local elections," we read.
