The presidential candidate for the PODEMOS party, Venâncio Mondlane, warns that the people will take to the streets to demand the election results if there are signs of fraud.
"If (the results) are not favorable, but they are transparent, I will simply continue to do my political work. Now, if they are not favorable to me and there is no transparency, there is theft, there is fraud, logically these people are ready to stand up against that and I will not separate myself from my people," he warned.
Speaking in an interview with Radio France International (RFI)Venâncio Mondlane pointed out that he intends to form "a government based on values", which involves reforming the state and implementing fiscal decentralization.
"The first measure is to install a government based on values. We have the manifesto, which is an innovative and non-standard manifesto, because normally manifestos always talk about technical measures, measures to do with the economy, finance and so on. But our number one priority is to guarantee a government based on values," he stressed, adding that his priority is to form a democratic rule of law where the organs of sovereignty function independently and complementarily.
With a few days to go until the end of the election campaign, Venâncio Mondlane says he is the best candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, justifying his being "the only one with public service in defense of the most disadvantaged".
"I'm the only candidate with a deeply patriotic manifesto that defends the rescue of patriotic values. I am the candidate at the moment with the highest technical qualifications of the four," he emphasized in the same publication.
Mozambique will elect the new President of the Republic next week, October 9, with four candidates and 37 political forces running for the legislative and provincial elections.
According to data from the National Electoral Commission (CNE), more than 17 million voters are registered to vote, including 333,839 registered abroad.
