According to a Letter from MozambiqueThe authorities suspect that the detainees are collaborators of terrorist groups, allegedly because they went to that area after an order to evacuate civilians to safer areas had been issued.

"The individuals were found in their huts in the village of Machova, two kilometers from Macomia-sede," reads the same publication, quoting a resident who confirms that only people who consider themselves brave have gone fishing in Mucojo.

Last week, the Governor of Cabo Delgado, Valige Tauabo, said that the situation in Mucojo was stable, but still did not advise the return of civilians to the area.
