The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, assured on Saturday in Maputo that the nominal list of some of the ringleaders of the terrorism that has plagued the province of Cabo Delgado since October 2017 will be released soon.
The list should be presented to Mozambicans when the nation celebrates the day of the Armed Forces and Defense of Mozambique (FADM) on September 25.
The Head of State was speaking as part of the golden jubilee celebrations (50 years) of Victory Day, i.e. the Lusaka Accords of September 7, 1974, which marked the culmination of negotiations for the cessation of military hostilities between Mozambique and Portugal, and the opening of preparations for the proclamation of independence of the Mozambican territory.
On the occasion, Nyusi praised the selfless commitment of former combatants who have made themselves available to fight "the new enemy" in that part of the country, "despite their advanced age". But he also acknowledged the combined actions between the Defence and Security Forces and the Rwandan forces that have stopped the insurgents' actions.
