Rwandans will be able to guarantee security during elections in Quissanga To this end, the Rwandan forces are building a camp in Village 19, at the Bilibiza crossroads, in the district of Quissanga, Cabo Delgado province.
Locally, the information circulating is that the camp aims to guarantee security during and after the general elections on October 9.
The Quissanga district is one of the most devastated by terrorism. Last March, terrorists stormed the district headquarters and murdered several people, including the district police commander and his colleagues.
At the moment, the district's security is guaranteed by the Mozambican armed forces, but a large part of the population is outside the district.
The majority are in accommodation centers in Metuge, Bilibiza Mahate and Pemba and are not considering returning, for two reasons: firstly, the district continues to suffer terrorist attacks and military protection is considered weak, so the town is constantly occupied by terrorists; secondly, many have seen their homes destroyed by terrorists.
Weak military protection and possible betrayal within the national army is causing part of the population to accept collaborating with terrorists in exchange for security. In Quissanga, three political parties are campaigning, namely Frelimo, Renamo and MDM.
The Frelimo party has been campaigning since day one, unlike the other two which started much later. (CIP Eleições)
