In the next few years, Mozambique will be able to manufacture vaccines to prevent various diseases that affect the Mozambican population and thus contribute to improving people's quality of life..

The information was shared this Monday (02) in Bali by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias, as he left the Mozambique-Indonesia bilateral meeting, as part of the Mozambican government's participation in the II Forum between the Asian country and Africa, representing the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.

According to a NewsCarlos Zacarias noted that, to this end, the two parties are in advanced negotiations not only for the local production of vaccines but also of some medicines, which could help reduce the import of pharmaceuticals into Mozambique.

"In this area, the talks are advanced, but we are still working on the focal points of the areas so that we can materialize the agreements very quickly, not only in this area but also in others," said Carlos Zacarias.

For his part, the Indonesian Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Pandjaitan, stressed that the aim of his country's government is to develop generic medicines for public use, improve the quality of health services, establish national vaccine production and promote medical and scientific research in partnership with renowned institutions in Mozambique.

The two leaders unanimously pointed to other areas of interest, such as transportation, fishing and infrastructure. "Indonesia is also interested in investing in the fisheries sector, since it has a very advanced fishing industry," said the Indonesian government official.

Still on fisheries cooperation, the aim is to add value to the sector through local processing of products, bringing greater benefits to coastal communities and fishermen.

Cooperation should also help the country combat illegal fishing and improve fishermen's skills through training programs in aquaculture and the blue economy.
