The Center for Public Integrity (CIP), in its Electoral Bulletin 278, warns that dealers in stolen cars, mostly in South Africa, may be using articles from the ruling Frelimo party to circulate such vehicles without being able to identify them.
"In the city of Chókwè, smugglers of vehicles, mostly from South Africa, may be taking advantage of the campaign to circulate them without license plates, or with license plates covered with Frelimo leaflets. This could allow them free passage through police checkpoints," it reads.
On the other hand, in the document that updates the events surrounding the next general elections, the CIP points to the bow that teachers make to the Frelimo party, skipping classes to take part in the party's movements. This was verified in Magude, in the district of Magude, Maputo province. With this, it seems that children are also being instrumentalized to walk in the campaigns, since there are records of children who have skipped classes and are wandering the streets wielding party slogans.
There are also reports of skirmishes in Tambara, Manica province, which resulted in one person being seriously injured and another fainting. In Dondo, Sofala province, Frelimo members threatened a CIP correspondent. In Nampula, there was vandalization of propaganda material, rifts between Frelimo and Renamo caravans, and Frelimo and MDM. There was also the stabbing of two young people from OJM, the youth branch of Frelimo, in Mecuburi, and an assault injury with a stick, totaling three victims. The case is in the hands of the local PRM.
