The Tax Authority, through the Maputo City Inspection Unit, in coordination with the PRM, recently thwarted an attempt to smuggle alcoholic beverages, supposedly from neighboring South Africa, across the Ponta de Ouro border.

The quantity of merchandise, which has yet to be determined, was packed into a light vehicle that was traveling in the direction of Ponta de Ouro - Maputo City.

After being questioned, the driver of the vehicle in question disobeyed the order to stop and fled, which led to a chase by the inspection team, culminating in the overturning of the offenders' vehicle near the entrance to Malanga, close to the Maputo - Katembe bridge.
