In the first six months of this year, the province of Manica recorded a reduction of 60% in cases of trafficking in human beings, especially people with albinism.
In fact, only two cases involving minors were reported in the period in question, compared to five in the same period last year, according to "Notícias".
The first case involved three children under the age of 10, taken from Malawi to neighboring South Africa, where it is presumed they would be used as domestic workers.
The Chief Provincial Prosecutor, Jorge Tivane, said that the case is now in the investigation phase and the woman who was transporting them, without any documentation, is being held in the Chissui Women's Penitentiary awaiting the outcome.
The second case was recorded earlier this month, involving two teenagers.
The source was speaking at the launch of the awareness week against human trafficking, which will culminate in a "Justice Fair" on Saturday. (News)
